Abstract

Entrepreneurship plays a critical role in driving economic development, especially in agriculture-dependent economies like India. Agri-entrepreneurship, which combines innovation with sustainable farming practices, has the potential to transform rural economies by creating employment, reducing poverty and enhancing food security. However, agri-entrepreneurs in India face significant challenges, including small and fragmented land holdings, soil fertility issues, inadequate marketing infrastructure, poor storage and transportation facilities, insufficient capital, low skill levels and resistance to change. Addressing these challenges requires a multi-pronged approach involving policy support, financial assistance, skill development, improved infrastructure and access to quality inputs. Government initiatives like concessional loans, digital marketing platforms and training programs have already begun fostering agri-entrepreneurship. By implementing innovative solutions and creating a supportive ecosystem, Indian agri-entrepreneurs can achieve sustainable growth, contributing significantly to the national economy.
