Since independence in 1947, Indian agriculture has witnessed a major transformation. Initially dependent on traditional practices, the Green Revolution boosted production but also introduced challenges such as soil degradation, excessive use of chemicals, and environmental imbalance. In recent decades, organic farming has emerged as a sustainable alternative. Meanwhile, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has begun to revolutionize agriculture through predictive analytics, precision farming, disease management, and efficient resource use. This paper explores the historical background of Indian agriculture from 1947 to the present, evaluates the opportunities and challenges in merging organic farming with AI, and highlights its future potential for sustainable agricultural growth.
